Groeneveld with Greensight blind spot detection

The new Greensight system combines active camera technology and ultrasonic obstacle detection. Completely new to the system is the multi-functional colour in-cab monitor. Technically and functionally, the system now meets the primary German BGF standards (equivalent to the ISO/TR 12155, DIN 75031) and the European Mirror Directive 2003/97/EC.

Greensight is a total concept for blind spot detection, which uses cameras to give the driver a view of the blind spots to the rear, sides and in front of the vehicle. Greensight provides additional safety by activating an ultrasonic obstacle detection system while reversing. This system fully autonomously scans the blind spot behind the vehicle and actively alerts the driver in case of collision danger. An acoustic signal alerts the driver while the image from the rear view camera and obstacle distance information automatically appears on the monitor.

A significant improvement to Greensight is the completely new intelligent colour in-cab monitor, specially designed for this application. This monitor produces acoustic warning signals and is equipped with inputs for four cameras, which, in certain user modes, can display their images in split screen. This gives the driver the option to have the monitor display the blind spot to the right of the vehicle as well as the left rear swerving area while making a right-hand turn.

Greensight complies with the European Mirror Directive and therefore the application of an additional front-view camera is also possible. Activation of the various security modes and the monitor image are automatically linked to the actual action: reversing, making a right-hand turn or driving ahead from standstill.

Active system
Blind spots around lorries and trailers are often the cause of accidents and damage. Particularly while reversing, Greensight distinguishes itself from the standard passive and active camera systems. Greensight is equipped with an active camera system that is linked to an extremely accurate ultrasonic detection system. The system actively warns the driver so that he does not have to constantly check the monitor and can therefore concentrate on the overall traffic situation.

Reversing safely
The Greensight ultrasonic obstacle detection system accurately scans firmly defined zones behind the vehicle. The smaller the distance is to an obstacle, the more piercing the Greensight acoustic signal becomes. The colour monitor displays the image from the rear view camera as well as colour bars that give information about the distance to the object. Greensight’s combined camera/ultrasonic system works under all circumstances, including bad weather and darkness. Partly thanks to this, this is the only system that has been certified by the German damage prevention institute, BGF.
